Heartland Goat Dairy to be Sold to Chilton Dairy, LLC of Kaukauna, Wisconsin

Newark, MO – Chilton Dairy, LLC of Kaukauna, Wisconsin is acquiring the assets of Heartland Goat Dairy in a sale scheduled to be completed in the next several weeks. The terms of the transaction between Heartland and Chilton were undisclosed. Heartland Goat Dairy products have included goat cheese and milk products distributed throughout the tri-state area and beyond.

This transaction completes a transition by Sharpe Holdings out of the dairy industry so that it can focus on its core business of crop farming. Earlier this year, Heartland Goat Dairy’s affiliate Sharpe Holdings sold the assets of Heartland Dairy to LaBelle Dairy of LaBelle, Missouri and Heartland Creamery to LaClare Family Creamery of Malone, Wisconsin.

“Since Mr. Sharpe’s death in February, our watchword has been ‘sustainable,'” said Dave Melton, Vice President of Sharpe Holdings. “Mr. Sharpe designed his estate plan to provide for the continuation of the Heartland Community well into the future. The Heartland Community’s commitment to assist those who need help escaping life-controlling issues is stronger than ever.” Melton said, “We want everyone to know that we are here to stay. While our business emphasis has changed, our commitment to ministry has not. Sharpe Holdings will continue with its crop operations, a non-dairy related cattle business, and service industries serving Heartland and its surrounding communities.”

Heartland Goat Dairy was founded in 2005 by Charlie Sharpe, a native of northeast Missouri. Heartland Goat Dairy was a natural extension of the Sharpe family’s original 600-acre homestead near LaBelle. He expanded it into an 18,000-acre farm spanning three northeast Missouri counties, largely to provide work for people in the recovery programs he founded.

Mr. Sharpe is also the founder of the Heartland Community, which includes children’s homes, men’s and women’s recovery programs, Heartland Community Church, CNS International Ministries, Inc., Heartland Christian Academy and Heartland Christian College. Both in his for-profit and not-for-profit endeavors, Mr. Sharpe’s optimism is best summed up in two of his favorite phrases: “You can make a difference” and “Jesus is the answer!”
