Heartland Community Open House
Friday, July 1, 2016
This year, our annual Open House event will take place at Heartland Christian Academy soccer field and gymnasium, and offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about what Heartland is all about. Our schedule is:
12:00pm – Heartland Tours
Hop on the bus for a driving tour around Heartland and over to the Dairy. See the 60-stall carousel milking machine in action, and make a quick stop at the Goat Dairy to meet some of “the kids.” You will learn about Heartland, then end with a tour of Heartland Christian Academy upon your return.
Tours depart from the school gym every 15 minutes—last one of the day begins at 4:00pm.
(Also, within walking distance from the school are the Heartland Ford Museum, Solid Rock Café, New Creation Country Store, and Mission House Thrift Store.)
12-6:00pm – Heartland Info Expo & Activities
In the school gym, pick up information about Heartland’s many ministries and businesses. You can watch videos playing throughout the day, and hear stories of people who have found a new life.
Plus, register to win one of the prizes we’re giving away: free oil changes, coupons for the Solid Rock Cafe, an overnight stay and meals at the Ozark Lodge & Steakhouse, Heartland gift cards, and more.
- Activities for the kids including face painting, old fashioned games such as giant checkers and chess, washers, and more.
- Our STRONGEST FARMER competition is back this year! Everyone always enjoys watching contestants push loaded wheelbarrows, drive posts, haul water, toss bales, and whatever other challenges our coordinators come up with. This year, we’ll also have a teen competition. The contest begins at 3:00pm, registration opens at 2:30pm on the field.
- The King Family Band will perform at 3:00pm in the entertainment tent. If you brought the Von Trapp family from The Sound of Music to America and taught them fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and banjo, you would end up with the King Family Band. Featuring the King siblings and their parents, this band puts on a high energy show that everyone is sure to enjoy. The King shows are known for their intricate instrumental solos, blended family harmonies, unique original music, and light-hearted fun that only a family group can provide.
5:45pm – Dinner & Entertainment
Be sure to stick around for dessert and fireworks after the the show.
9:00pm – Fireworks
** NOTE: Due to bridge work starting June 27, 2016 (and lasting up to 4 months) on Hwy. 15 just south of Shelbyville, that route will have a detour. We recommend consulting the MoDOT Travel map for details about road conditions before you travel.
